Knit-N-Purl is a comfortable place for knitters to gather and relax. After all, our motto is "KNIT TO RELAX." That goes for crocheters too. We have lots of colorful yarns to choose from, many patterns to peruse and loads of accessories.
The shop is owned by Phyllis McGowan. Together with Molly Bruton, Michael Weaver and Anne Kuzas we offer classes, assistance and encouragement. Stop by to see us. The coffee is always on and treats on the table. We look forward to seeing you.
While knitting can be a solitary hobby, most knitters want to gather and share ideas. Knit-N-Purl is designed to meet the needs of knitters by supplying materials, support, instruction and community.I am a fairly new knitter myself, and I try to make it as easy as possible for everyone to learn. The knitting table is full most days with different knitters working on any number of projects and others who need help. Classes are tailored to the customers needs. We offer technique classes like cable, knitting-in-the-round, and fair-isle as well as project based classes like ladies top-down raglan, summer shell and felted handbags. Beginning classes are scheduled weekly and private lessons are very popular for those with limited time in the area or if they just need one-on-one attention.I love working and teaching at Knit-N-Purl for many reasons. I enjoy people. My mom was a teacher and I taught high school for 20 years, so teaching is very natural for me. Knitting is my therapy. I enjoy problem solving and the creative aspects of designing. The wide variety of fibers and beautiful colors available are just beckoning to come to life as a sweater or a shawl or a pair of socks. It is hard work and at the same time quite magical. It is a way of life for many of us and I appreciate the opportunity to help grow the next generation of knitters.Knitting can be intimidating and stressful for many people. We have so much fun at the shop, every single day. Knit-N-Purl is warm and inviting and there is always room for another knitter at the table. The bonds that are formed around this knitting table are priceless. Who wouldn't want to be a part of this?
