The easiest summer sweater pattern I know! A simple garter stitch rectangle, with unshaped openings for head and arms. The sleek shaping is formed by the drape of the loosely knit fabric. Uses worsted weight yarn on big needles at a gauge of 14 sts to 4 inches. Shown in cotton, it has cap sleeves, or optional short sleeves. Side seams are sewn.
Sizes- x-small (small, medium, large, x-large,
xx-large).
Finished measurements-
Chest- 30 (34, 38, 42, 46, 50) ins.
Length- 20 (20½, 21, 21½, 22, 22½) ins. This sweater stretches about 2 to 4 inches in length when worn, depending on yarn used.
Materials- worsted weight yarn - approx. 495 (530, 586, 659, 702, 784) yds.
29 inch circular needle size 10 or size required to get the gauge.
If making the short sleeve option, you will also need a 16 inch circular needle size 10.
Small safety pin.
Gauge- in garter stitch, 14 sts and 14 ridges equal 4 inches. This gauge must be very loose to allow the neckline to drape, the body to cling, and the sweater to stretch in length. Using a bulky yarn will result in a very boxy unfitted sweater.
